I started his life back in 1955 , my father was a carpenter so at a young age I learnt Carpentry and made it my trade which I have done since a young age. During that time I met my wife Sue and in 1978 started a family by the birth of my only child Lisa.
In 1996 I became a Grandfather of Adien it was a very proud moment for all of the family. In 2004 my only daughter Lisa Married Trent Cotter and he was very proud to be able to walk her down the isle and take some photographs of the wedding on such a happy day.
How I came to be a photographer
The initial interest in photography was sparked when a close friend who was at the time running a photo business and had some Kodak 64 outdated and since I was travelling on a mission trip to Hong Kong & Thailand he sold
them to me for $10.00 a roll process paid. When the shots were processed and some reasonable images were in amongst the slides placed on the light box my interest was fired up and since then 1990 now 2004 having bought traded and swapped all manner of photography.
My current photographic tools range from Eos 3 in 35mm Bronica SQ-A 6X6 , Arca Swiss 6x9 Cambo, 5x4 Monorail and Pacemaker Speed Graphic,
my Digital Camera is a D30.
After the disastrous first attempt at Black and White when I was sold developer that was fit for the bin the result was less than satisfactory so my darkroom kit went in to a cupboard for 2 years and with joining the Nourlunga and Southern District's Camera Club my B&W interest was started again with the help and wisdom of the club members.
Now 4 enlargers later my latest a 138s durst mated to a color head and learning to see in mono has become the most creative aspect
of my Photography pursuits.
In spite of all of the above my considered opinion is that the most important thing a photography student
or professional for that matter is to train our eyes to see the unseen and unexpected couple this with a
solid technique will see our images stand out from the crowd of mediocre images that are seen more and
more with the lack of adequate tuition today.
